Social Gaming Glossary Mathematical & Gaming Definitions
Key terms covering probability models, 2D6 outcomes, slot RTP metrics, house edge formulas, and bankroll management.
Probability & Statistical Metrics
Expected Value (EV)
The theoretical average payout or loss per wager over an infinite number of trials. An EV of -0.0141 on a Pass Line wager means that, statistically, 1.41% is retained by the theoretical house margin.
House Edge (Theoretical Margin)
The mathematical advantage inherent in a game ruleset, expressed as a percentage of overall wagered volume.
Return To Player (RTP)
The theoretical percentage of all wagered credits that a slot title returns to players over millions of spins (e.g. 96.5% RTP).
Standard Deviation (Variance)
A statistical measure quantifying how much short-term results fluctuate around the expected mean balance.
True Odds
The exact mathematical ratio of losing outcomes to winning outcomes for a given outcome sum (e.g., rolling a 7 has true odds of 5 to 1).
Dice & Social Gaming Terminology
Boxcars (Midnight)
A roll resulting in a sum of 12 (two 6s). Occurs in 1 of 36 combinations (2.78% probability).
Come Out Roll
The initial roll in a dice round. Rolling 7 or 11 wins Pass Line bets instantly, whereas 2, 3, or 12 loses.
Free Odds Bet
A secondary wager placed after a Point is established, paying out at true mathematical odds with 0.00% house edge.
Hardway
An even sum (4, 6, 8, or 10) rolled via identical matching pairs (such as 3-3 for Hard 6).
Snake Eyes
A roll resulting in a sum of 2 (two 1s), carrying a 2.78% probability.
Bankroll & Management Models
Kelly Criterion
A mathematical sizing formula designed to optimize logarithmic growth of chips while safeguarding against rapid drawdowns.
Social Credits (Demo Chips)
Virtual entertainment tokens used exclusively for risk-free social play and strategy testing.
